The Renault Master and Renault Trafic: two iconic vans designed to accommodate the multifaceted needs of craftsmen and women, entrepreneurs and their business. But which one would be the best fit for you? Let’s find out with our van-off.
Introducing the Renault Trafic & Renault Master
The Renault Trafic has been specifically designed to meet the needs of professionals, whatever their business environment. Powerful, clever and dynamic, this medium van makes clever use of its space to handle larger loads than you'd initially imagine – not to mention being at ease on the highway and in the city alike.
The Renault Master is the heavyweight of the Renault van line and one of the best-known large vans on the road. Practical, tough and versatile, it is especially suited to longer distances and big, unwieldy loads that only a large van can handle.
The Renault Trafic comes with short and long wheelbase options, as well as a low and high roof option. Its overall length ranges from 4.999 m to 5.399 m, with an unladen overall height between 1.971 and 2.465 m, and an overall width of 2.238 m (with side mirrors).
Its bigger brother the Renault Master is even more versatile, coming in four lengths and three heights. It ranges from 5.048 to 6.848 min overall length, with an unladen overall height of between 2.290 and 2.808 m, for an overall width of 2.470 m (with side mirrors).
Load capacities to accommodate all business needs
The Renault Trafic Panel Van has been maximised to provide a loading volume that’s as capacious as ever: 5.2 m3 on the SWB, 6 m3 on the LWB, and up to 8.6 m3 on high roof variants. This means that with the Trafic you can carry 3 Euro pallets in the SWB version as standard. Its load through bulkhead continues all the way under the passenger bench, allowing you to carry items up to 4.15 min length in the LWB version. It can carry payloads up to 1,280 kg.
The Renault Master Panel Van is efficient with space, offering load volumes between 8 m3 and 17 m3 depending on the wheelbase and roof clearance options you choose. Its payloads go up to 1,610 kg in 3.5T versions, and 2,1658 kg in 4.5T versions. Its maximum width between wheel arches of 1.380 m (in single wheel), with a 1.27 m side loading opening and large autoclave doors that open 270° degrees (optional), combine to enable the Master to transport 4 Euro pallets in front-wheel drive versions, and up to 5 Euro pallets in single rear-wheel drive.
But what about carrying passengers too?
Sometimes you need to get your crew as well as your tools on site; or perhaps your business is directly tied to passenger transport. For both cases, the Renault Trafic and Renault Master both come in Crew Van and Passenger variants.
The Renault Trafic is available as a 6-person Crew Van, offering load volumes from 3.2 to 4.0 m3, or as a 9-person passenger vehicle for efficient multi-person trips. This is ideal if you need to transport your personnel as well as tools and materials, or if you intend to use the van for private transport. The Trafic Passenger also boasts a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle version, based on the Trafic 9 seat Minibus.
The Renault Master also comes in a 6 and 9 Seat Combi version for multi-person transport with higher load volumes and payloads than Crew Vans or smaller passenger vehicles can provide. It is ideal for shuttle bus operators, fleet operators and private customers alike. At the top of the scale, the Master 17 Seat Minibus is widely recognised as one of the most stylish and well-finished minibuses in the UK market.
